Note from The Director:
‘Welcome to IKP’s pop-up Panto!’

We are very excited to be producing our very first Winter show, having toured fast-paced, family shows around the country since 2015. When we were asked to create a Panto this year, we wanted to make sure we stayed true to IKP’s trademark style – a small ensemble company all working together to play a multitude of parts, presenting silly, funny, moving, memorable theatre. Blending our style with what audiences expect from a Panto hasn’t always been straight-forward – how do you do Panto Dame make-up when you also play Prince Charming and Buttons? And how can you make a pumpkin turn into a carriage which can pack up and tour around the country? We’ve had great fun working out the answer to these questions and many more. We hope you enjoy IKP’s first adventure into traditional Panto!

The Director | Greg Banks

Greg has established an international  reputation in his work for young audiences of all ages.

There is, throughout his work in both scripts and direction, a desire to speak honestly about the world.

His scripts have a fluid muscularity, a rhythm that is echoed in the strongly physical nature of his direction. Music is an essential component. A close collaboration with composers and on stage musicians to create a live and original score, ensures that the music is fully integrated into the work, driving the story forwards, evoking place and emotion in a very specific way.

Greg is currently a guest  Director at The Minneapolis Children’s Theatre where he has been commissioned to write and direct many adaptations of well know classics including Huck Finn, Antigone, The Hobbit, Snow White, Pinocchio, The Jungle Book and Robin Hood. He has also directed Romeo and Juliet, Wrinkle In Time, Charlotte’s Web and Sleeping Beauty for the Children’s Theatre.

Other productions he has written and directed include Tir Na N’og  for Travelling Light Theatre **** (Guardian), Nominated TMA Award. ‘Why The Whales Came’ an adaptation of a Jim Sheridans film ‘Into The west’ for The Plymouth Theatre Royal and Theatre Alibi **** (Guardian) Nominated TMA Award.

December

Hello folks, take a deep breath, you made it to the forest and its Christmas!

What a year hey?

We are so excited to bring Cinderella to the ancient woodland. After watching an incredible performance of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at Glastonbury Abbey earlier this year. We were certain that IKProductions were the right choice for  our first venture into Panto (Oh and the fact that our 7 year old found a piece of amethyst on the site of King Arthur’s tomb 😳).

It was written in the stars!

Thank you for supporting us through this very tough year and a very Merry Christmas to friends, old and new.

Take care and enjoy the show.

Love and peace to you all.
